St. Louis Rams Inside Slant

As rumors flew early in free agency that the Dolphins were pursuing a quarterback to replace Gus Frerotte as the starter, Rams coach Scott Linehan waited patiently. Linehan has a history with Frerotte at both Minnesota and Miami, and it was no secret Linehan wanted an experienced backup behind Marc Bulger. So it was that shortly after Miami acquired Daunte Culpepper in a trade, the Dolphins terminated Frerotte's contract. Within three days, Frerotte was a member of the Rams.

--The Rams reached a one-year contract agreement with running back Tony Fisher, who spent last season with the Packers. After deciding not to tender an offer to restricted free agent running back Arlen Harris, the Rams needed depth at the position. Fisher visited St. Louis and decided to sign a one-year contract rather than make further visits to Buffalo and Pittsburgh. "Nobody knows what Marshall Faulk might do," Fisher said. St. Louis Rams

The St. Louis Rams are a professional American football team based in St. Louis, Missouri. They currently belong to the Western Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The team has won two NFL Championships and one Super Bowl.

The Rams began playing in 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio as a second incarnation of the previous Cleveland Rams team that was a charter member of the 1936-37 American Football League. Although the NFL granted membership to the same owner, this new NFL franchise technically became a separate entity since none of the players or the team's personnel joined the new NFL team.

The team then became known as the Los Angeles Rams after the club moved to Los Angeles, California in 1946. The Rams then moved to Anaheim Stadium in Anaheim, California in 1980, keeping the Los Angeles name. The club relocated to St. Louis in 1995.
